Animal Production
Genetic lines
At Pereira Palha Agricultura Lda, we have cross-bred animals, especially cattle. These animals are the result of selective crossings between different breeds, done with care to achieve specific characteristics. Our objective when raising these animals is to ensure rapid weight gain, efficiency in feed conversion and production of high quality meat.

Meat crossing is a technique that combines the best characteristics of different breeds. This means that our animals grow quickly and have good carcass conformation, which contributes to the quality of the meat. Furthermore, they often have an even distribution of fat in the meat, which results in an exceptional flavor and texture when consumed.
These animals are versatile and adaptable to different environments. We can raise them on pastures, where they can feed naturally, or in confinement systems, where they receive a controlled diet.
Extensive Regime

Our animals are raised in large areas of pasture, where they have space to move freely and feed naturally. Instead of keeping them in closed spaces, we allow them to live in an environment closer to their natural habitat, where they can express natural behaviors.

Furthermore, our extensive regime approach is more environmentally friendly, as we reduce the use of fertilizers and pesticides. In addition to being good for our animals, as it allows them to have a healthier diet, it is also beneficial for the soil and the farm's biodiversity.

Therefore, we prioritize the well-being of our animals, the quality of our products and environmental sustainability. Our animals are raised in a more natural and healthy way, resulting in high quality meat and animal products.

Traditional Management

We follow traditional management with a modern touch, especially inspired by the traditional management of campinos in Ribatejo. This centuries-old method of working with animals has been improved with modern technology to make our production more efficient and effective.
An example of this is playback tracking. Using ultrasounds, we check the pregnancy of all cows that have been calved for more than three months. If they are not pregnant, we separate them and place them in a different park with a bull. This method aims to ensure that we have a calf every 12 months, maintaining a regular and efficient reproduction cycle.
Our campinos, who work as they did 150 years ago, now have the help of technology. Their smartphones send daily alerts about cows that are about to give birth. When they go to the field, they use these alerts to look for these animals and make sure everything goes well during birth. This is fundamental care, as we know that births can present challenges and we want to ensure the well-being of both mothers and calves.
Thus, we combine the tradition of grassland management with technological innovation to guarantee efficient production, with regular reproduction cycles and careful monitoring of our cows. This is our commitment to tradition and modernity in our exploration.
